We are working on a distribution plan which will take place at a later date. As the plan is solidified we will post it on the and send email updates to registered graduates.

Per the State guidelines, effective April 1, counties in the red tier are allowed to host outdoor venues with a maximum capacity of 20%. Each graduate who registers will be issued a maximum of four assigned tickets for their guests. These tickets are non-transferable to other graduates.

Limited tickets are available in order to meet health and safety requirements from the Fresno County and State health agencies. For this reason, toddlers and infants must have tickets in order to attend.

Guests of all ages will need a ticket. For the purposes of our overall capacity, we are counting all bodies, including infants, as a part of the socially distanced groups (or “pods”). (Capacity for the event venue is limited to 20% in the red tier per the latest public health guidelines.)

No, tickets are non-transferable to guests of other graduates.

No, there will not be extra tickets available and there will not be a waitlist.

Each registered graduate will be automatically assigned 4 tickets to share with the guests of their choosing. You must have a ticket to enter the stadium.

Yes, seats will be assigned.

Graduates will need to register by Friday, April 9.

Graduates will receive an email on how to submit their photos after registration closes.

Due to health and safety guidelines and limited space on the field graduates will stand as their name is called but remain at their seat.

The University is currently working to finalize details for hooding. Additional information will be available in the coming weeks. Continue to check and your student email for new information as it becomes available.

During each ceremony, graduate students will be asked to stand and will be given instructions on placement of their hood, led by Chancellor Castro. Please refrain from wearing the hood until this portion of the ceremony.

The Commencement ceremonies will include all levels of graduates from the Classes of 2020 and spring 2021.

Noisemakers, balloons, large bags (above 12x10x10 inches), signs, weapons, lighters and bottles containing liquids other than water will not be permitted into the stadium.

Smaller bags are subject to visual inspection by security staff upon entry and bringing these items into the venue may result in expulsion from the event. Each graduate and guest may bring one sealed water bottle up to 24 oz in size. Additionally, water will be sold at concession stands.

There will not be a designated place for graduates to leave their belongings during the ceremony. Graduates should plan to leave their belongings with their guests, and should arrive with their regalia draped over their arms (not worn) in order to assist with the security process.

The ceremonies will be livestreamed so students and families who are unable or choose not to attend an in-person ceremony, and the public, can watch online. The link will be made available on the

Yes. The health screening process is required for all campus visitors. Graduates and guests should complete the daily screening questionnaire on their mobile device or print the completed web-based form from home. (The daily health screening tool is easily accessed through the Fresno State app. For iOS devices, download the app in the Apple App Store. For Android devices, download the app in Google Play.)

Graduates will be seated on the football field and in the stands and all guests will be assigned to a specific seating location (pods) in Bulldog Stadium. These pods will be socially distanced in accordance with the latest CDC and state public health guidelines. The wearing of facial coverings will be required at all times for graduates and attendees.

If you are in need of accommodations, please contact our office at or 559.278.2741

We encourage you to participate virtually as future ceremonies will be for graduates of those terms.

For health and safety reasons we ask that you make arrangements to meet family and friends at your home or other location, as to maintain social distancing at or near the stadium.

Due to capacity limitations based on state health guidelines, summer and fall 2021 graduates will not be able to participate in this spring’s ceremony. They are encouraged to participate in the spring 2022 ceremonies.

Due to limited space and for health and safety reasons graduates will be limited to participation in one ceremony. You will have the option to list both colleges on your slide however you will need to choose one ceremony.

The chance of rain on the day of commencement is remote; however, the following contingencies have been developed:

  1. In the event of light rain or occasional showers, the ceremonies will proceed as planned in the stadium.
  2. In the event of a heavy rainstorm, the ceremonies may be cancelled.

For accomodations in advance, please contact Student Involvement at or 559.278.2741

On site during the ceremonies staff will be available for assistance.

Please email us at

When you submit your photo you will also be asked to include the pronunciation of your name.

No, parking will be relaxed.

Each ceremony is expected to last approximately 2 hours.

There will not be a rehearsal prior to the ceremonies. Graduates will receive instructions when they arrive at Bulldog Stadium the day of their ceremony.

All graduates must wear their cap and gown during the procession to their seating on the stadium floor and during the ceremony in order to participate. Graduates should arrive with their regalia draped over their arms (not worn) in order to assist with the security process.

Strollers are permitted in the stadium; however, individuals are responsible for their transport, storage and security. We recommend exercising caution with uneven surfaces and the inclines of walkways in and around the event venue.

Please contact Student Involvement at or 559.278.2741

Narrow heels, such as stilettos and pumps, are not permitted for graduating students participating in the in-person Commencement ceremonies due to the multiple uneven surfaces and inclines along the procession route. These heels come to a point that can puncture the turf of the football field and result in tripping or falling.

Blocks, wedges and platform style shoes are acceptable; however, we recommend wearing the most stable pair of shoes for the safety of the participant.
